“Boro Didi” or “Borodidi” is another novel by “Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s” (in other spelling: Sharat Chandra Chattopaddhay/Shorot Chondro Chaottopaddhay) and this time it is about a love story and as we know love stories’ endings are always painful, it’s ending is also painful but extraordinary. Read it and you would find in a different world.

Sometime the hero of this novel flees from his house for being not allowed to go abroad. After passing some hard days in Kolkata searching for jobs he get a job of private teacher for a little girl in a rich man’s house and also get the opportunity to stay there. The little girl’s elder sister was an widow and everybody used to call her “Boro Didi” means elder sister. The most surprising thing about the hero of the novel is that he was like a baby – don’t know when he need to eat, when he need to take a bath, when he need to sleep. As Boro Didi used to talke care of everyone she also started to take care of him indirectly and at one point she fell in her love (oh no! it’s a great sin in hindu society to fall in love when she is a widow) and the later is a history. So, read it and feel the exception – not only the exception but reality, excitement, silliness, suprise, thrill and tell us your story.
